Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools

Consistently ranked among the best districts in the country, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools benefit from proximity to the campus of the University of North Carolina and the world renowned Research Triangle Park, comprising one of the highest educated populations in America.
The district operates three high schools, four middle schools and nine elementary schools which serve more than 10,000 students. Chapel Hill-Carrboro is one of the top 37 school districts in the United States and the top performing school district in the Southeast US. These rankings are based upon student scores on the SAT, student participation in Advanced Placement courses, the number of National Merit Scholars and similar data (Offspring Magazine, Sept/Oct 2000).

In 2010, the Chapel Hill/Carrboro District was recognized as the best in the state in terms of combined SAT scores. In the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill Triangle area, the top three performing schools were the ones in the CHCCS District. East Chapel Hill High School led the pack with a combined verbal/math score of 1218; Carrboro High School, second, 1183; and Chapel Hill High, 1165.
